US*MADE and UFPR Host Congressional Briefing on Bad Patent Litigation

On July 14, 2025, the US Manufacturers Association for Development and Enterprise (US*MADE) and United For Patent Reform (UFPR) co-hosted a congressional briefing titled “Protecting America’s Economic and National Security Interests from the Threat of Bad Patents.” With former HJC Chairman Bob Goodlatte moderating the conversation, experts from across industries examined how low-quality patents stifle innovation and impose costly, abusive litigation on American businesses. The expert panelists included Mike Lemon of the National Retail Foundation; Tara Hairston of the Alliance for Automotive Innovation; Karin Hessler from the Association for Accessible Medicines; and Joe Matal of Clear IP, LLC. Chairman Goodlatte moderated an insightful discussion with the panelists followed by a Q&A with congressional staffers, and all involved were excited by the strong audience engagement.
